Baseball is BACK!

It seems like the longest break between football season and baseball season with hockey and basketball the only entertaining sports to watch.  But there is nothing like baseball.  The smell of the grass, sun shinning down on your skin and the sound of the ball hitting the bat…baseball is back!

Spring Training is the best part of the year, where you get to see the old guys and the new additions along with the up and comers. You get to mingle with the players, coaches and fans.

But when Opening Day comes, you are ready for the long, yet fast 162 game season.

This year is going to be absolutely crazy!  There were several BIG moves this off season, not to mention the Marlins have a new ballpark, name change along with the addition of several big names.  Also, the Orioles changed their logo of the Oriole on their caps.

I have a feeling that the 2012 season is going to be one to remember!

Playoffs!

Sorry for the long absence.  Last post was when football came back and now the season is over and playoffs are here.  So I’m going to share my predictions.

AFC Wild Card:

Steelers over Broncos (Broncos & I’m glad I got this one wrong), Texans over Bengals (Texans)

NFC Wild Card:

Giants over Falcons (Giants), Saints over Lions (Saints)

AFC Division:

Patriots over (Broncos)Steelers (Patriots), Ravens over Texans (Ravens)

NFC Division:

Packers over Giants (Giants), 49ers over Saints (49ers)

Conference Championship:

Ravens over Patriots (Patriots), Packers (Giants) (Giants) over 49ers

Super Bowl:

Packers over Ravens         (Giants) over (Patriots)

And the GIANTS win it again!

I believe the Packers will win back-to-back Super Bowls… The only team to beat them this year didn’t even make the playoffs (KC).  I may be wrong but I do look forward to this years playoffs.

PS I did make a mistake in this post but have corrected it, shouldn’t write while doing other things ;)

And I will put the winners in parenthesis after games are over =)

Let there be FOOTBALL!

The lockout is over & it’s about time. Players signed the CBA after a long weekend of fans waiting. Free agency has begun & training camps will opening to the public by Friday. The season will not be in jeopardy but the players will not get in as much practice as they usually do.

My curiosity is making me wonder, “will teams that practiced together on there own do better this year?” I guess only time will tell. All I know is ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!

They’ll Stay!

The Lightning have come to terms with Steven Stamkos and Teddy Purcell.  Stamkos agreed to a five-year deal worth $37.5 million and a two-year deal with Purcell reportedly worth $4.725 million.

Both players were key in the Bolts run to the playoffs.  Team and fans hope they continue to be hot and help the Bolt make it back to the playoffs this year.

The Lightning have lost several players but have signed a lot more.  Some key players the Bolts lost were Sean Bergenheim to the Florida Panthers, Simone Gagne to the LA Kings, Randy Jones to the Winnipeg Jets, Mike Lundin to the Minnesota Wild, Matt Smaby to the Anaheim Ducks, Cedrick Desjardins to the Colorado Avalanche, and Mike Smith to the Phoenix Coyotes.

Next year shall be interesting for the Lightning and their fans.

Really Regis?!

On Saturday, beloved Yankee Derek Jeter hit his 3,000 career hit off of Rays David Price.  Unlike most players these days, he was lucky enough to get all his hits as a Yankee.

Today on Regis & Kelly, he brought it up as he is a Yankees fan.  Then he mentioned how polite Casey Kotchman was by tipping his hat to Jeter as he rounded first base except Regis called him Casey Hotchman and said he played for the Marlins.

Really Regis?! Hotchman & Marlins?! Maybe it is really time for you to retire.

Want Google to find you?

If you want your website to be found by a search engine, you need to do several things.  Some are very complicated but this one is not.  All you have to do is give Google your web address.  They do not guarantee that they will add your address or that it will work but I say it won’t hurt to try.  This is the website you must visit: http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl Once there, it explains everything.  Hope it helps.  Did I mention it is free?  Well it is free =)

Big Game James

He is sure living up to his name this year as Jame Shields does it again!  He has his sixth complete game!  That is just amazing.  He will continue to lead the majors in most complete game, third game in a row.  He is the first pitcher since Toronto’s Pat Hentgen in ’97 to have six complete games after 76 games.

Last season was not his year and most fans gave up on him.  I never did!  I love how people forget all that he has done for us in previous years.  He is just showing all those people up.  Last season, his second child was born a few days after the season started and I truly believe that affected him.  Shields has all the making of a great pitcher and he is showing that this year.  He is keeping his pitch count low, going the distance and if he gets into trouble, some how he gets out of it.  He is just dominating the game and deserves to be named the AL All-Star starting pitcher.  David Price had the honor last year but now I think it is Shieldsy’s turn.

I just hope he can make it all season that hot, the Rays really need him to.

BJ Upton’s Cuz

Today I went to the St. Petersburg celebration of Juneteenth.  If you do not know what it is check out this website http://www.juneteenth.com/history.htm.  Anyway, during the celebration they put on a Negro Baseball League game.  I walked over with the team right before it was going to begin.  Once we got there, this guy was tightening his belt.  So I made the comment, “Look at you, all skinny like BJ Upton.”  The guy laughed and said, “BJ is my cousin but I don’t call him BJ.”  I laughed too, at the shock that out of all the baseball players I could of picked I said BJ but something about this guy really reminded me of him…little did I know, he was a relative.  That is what I call a small but very cool world.  I wish I got the guys name or contact info because I think it would of been a great piece on this guy who played in a Negro Baseball League game on Juneteenth and his cousin(s) play professional ball.
